More drought, more fires, more damaging winds & 11,000 scientists!

There are over 1000 of us who want Wingecarribee Council to declare a Climate Emergency!  Thank you for joining me on this journey to ensuring a safe & sustainable future for the Wingecarribee community.

Your support for this petition is testament to the fact that our community prioritises climate action.  The first step to building a safer future is that our council acknowledges that we are in a climate emergency.

Please share the petition so we can strengthen our voice and push Wingecarribee Council to build a climate safe future.  I will be reaching out to our Councillors to ask them what their position on a climate emergenccy declaration may be.

The small extract below is taken directly from the Wingecarribee Council website, whilst about farming in the shire, the drought is not selective!

"Farming has long been an integral part of the Wingecarribee Shire community and economy. The current drought conditions are having a severe impact on the farming community within the Shire and a large number of families are struggling to meet the cost of simply living from day to day."

Currently (as of yesterday), the Wingecarribee Reservoir is at 48.3% - frightening considering the Southern Highlands are generally regarded as a well-watered region compared to other parts of the country.
