Petition Update

The AYF Central Hai Tahd Committee created this petition calling on Duke University to cancel its lecture event titled "Turkish Armenian Conflict: A Historical Perspective." The lecture featured a known genocide denier, professor Michael Gunter. Working in collaboration with an Armenian-American student, the petition received more than 3,500 supporting signatures. The petition was sent to the school's administration, and they were contacted by the committee. The Duke student was also able to have an opinion column published in the school's newspaper, which received positive reviews. Ultimately the event was held; however, participation was minimal. CHTC is currently exploring other ways that we can work with Duke and other universities to properly commemorate the Armenian Genocide.
