Why this petition matters

Countryside adjoining Stourbridge currently enjoys Green Belt protection. However, a Green Belt Review and Call for Sites under the Black Country Core Strategy means that significant areas of Stourbridge countryside is under threat of development.

This beautiful area is home to threatened species including the corn bunting. It provides open space for public enjoyment and recreation along rights of way enjoyed by walkers and horse-riders alike. It is bordered by species-rich deciduous woodland and a Roman road, and includes the scheduled ancient monument of Wychbury Hill, a multivallate Iron Age hillfort.

We request that Dudley Council do all within its power to protect and conserve this area for the enjoyment and recreation of its residents, and for the conservation of threatened wildlife and the historic environment.
