Updates & Petition Delivery
Jan 17, 2018 — Hi all, thanks again for signing, and thanks to those of you who showed up for our solidarity event at Hong Lim Park on 10 December last month. It was quite a show of support that saw poets, actors, and youths perform poetry, verses, and songs. We hope you had fun, too.
Remember when we asked you to write to your MPs and the PM to express your thoughts on this matter? It's not too late for those of you who haven't yet. (you can call them, too!) At nearly 5000 signatures, the time has come for us to start concluding the petition and deliver the full list of signatures over to the decision makers, namely Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Attorney General Lucien Wong. We will begin this over the next few days. Through this petition, as well as other ways people have expressed their support, we hope our leaders will listen and recognise that social activists like Jolovan play an important role in our society.
Lastly, you should also know that Jolovan's Pre-trial Conference was held earlier today, on 17th January. No decision has been made yet. Let us remember him as the case proceeds and show our solidarity where can.
Keep fighting for people power!
Politicians and rich CEOs shouldn't make all the decisions. Today we ask you to help keep Change.org free and independent. Our job as a public benefit company is to help petitions like this one fight back and get heard. If everyone who saw this chipped in monthly we'd secure Change.org's future today. Help us hold the powerful to account. Can you spare a minute to become a member today?I'll power Change with $5 monthly
