On 24-12-2016, George Ciccariello-Maher, an assistant professor in the Department of History and Politics decided to tweet:

"All I want for Christmas is White Genocide"

Ciccariello-Maher's tweet caused a significant backlash that caused him to make his Twitter account private, and Drexel University released this statement on Christmas Day, calling his comments "utterly reprehensible" and "deeply disturbing", claiming they do not represent the values of the university.

Drexel University have contacted Ciccariello-Maher to arrange a meeting to discuss his public statements "in detail".

This apparent call for genocide, even if made sarcastically, is unbecoming of an academic and appears to be part of a wider pattern of racially-motivated activism that has become a cause of serious concern for hundreds of thousands of people.

The signatories of this petition would like Drexel University's meeting with George Ciccariello-Maher to be recorded and published to ensure that Drexel University is taking racism seriously and so that the public can see the professor's reasoning for his apparent distaste for white people.

Further examples can be seen in other Tweets from George Ciccariello-Maher, with the most heinous example being:

"To clarify: when the whites were massacred during the Haitian Revolution, that was a good thing indeed."
