Another important milestone!

The Northern Neck Planning District Commission (NNPDC) has announced that Docks of the Bay Marine Construction of White Stone, Virginia, has been selected as part of a competitive negotiation bidding process as the contractor for the Little Wicomico River Emergency Dredging and Jetty Repair project.

Funded through the Virginia Waterway Maintenance Fund, the project includes:

  • Maintenance dredging of the existing federal navigation channel to a depth of 9 feet.
  • Repairing approximately 300 feet of the jetty.
  • Placing dredged sand along the beachfront south of the jetty to help protect the shoreline.

To our 1,676+ supporters — thank you! Your signatures, letters, public comments, and participation have helped move this project forward.

We also appreciate the efforts of Delegate Hillary Pugh Kent, Senators Richard Stuart and Ryan McDougle, NNPDC, Northumberland County officials and staff, and VMRC in advancing this state-funded project.

What's Next?

Contractor selection is a major step, but final permitting and construction remain ahead. We will continue monitoring progress and advocating for long-term federal rehabilitation of both jetties to protect this federally authorized navigation channel.

Please continue to share our petition. Every signature matters. No donation is required, and petition signers receive project updates.

Strong petition numbers demonstrate public support and help strengthen support for future actions to obtain federal funding and support to rehabilitate the jetty structure.

Let's dredge — and repair — the Little Wicomico River Jetty!

On behalf of the DTLW Coalition, I want you to know how much we appreciate your support!
