DTLW Friends,
This Tuesday, Congressman Rob Wittman’s team will be holding constituent services hours in our area. This is an important opportunity to show — in person — that the Little Wicomico River Jetty is not just a recognized problem, but a community priority that needs funding now.
📍 Where: Lancaster Community Library, Kilmarnock
16 Town Centre Dr, Kilmarnock, VA 22482
🕙 When: Tuesday, January 13, 2026 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
Congressman Wittman has publicly acknowledged that the jetty is in clear need of dredging. The channel has not been dredged since 2014 and is now severely shoaled, shallow, and unpredictable. The permits are moving. The remaining barrier is funding.
We encourage supporters to attend — respectfully and constructively — to help deliver one simple message: this must become a funded project, not just a documented problem.
🗣️ 10-Second Message You Can Use:
“Thank you for Congressman Wittman’s support and for recognizing the jetty needs urgent dredging and repair. The channel is now in an emergency condition. We’re here to ask that this become a funded project, not just a recognized problem, using the same state and federal funding paths used for dredging and maintaining other Virginia channels.”
Even a brief visit makes a difference. Your presence shows this is a community priority.
Thank you for helping to restore safe access to the Chesapeake Bay at Smith Point.
