SAY NO TO DRAKENSTEIN MUNICIPALITY forging ahead with an illegal, flawed process

 A spectacularly bad idea building a Waste Incinerator within 600 m of local schools, crèches and the poorest and most vulnerable of the Wellington Community.

A wrong plan for a wrong site, 900 m from the Bergriver, the water vein to the award winning wine and olive producing valley.

Drakenstein Municipality is asking condonation from National Treasury for this illegal, flawed process.

Arrogantly fighting the Community in court for not consulting with them.

Bulldozing the Incinerator project through without considering other options, including waste reduction, recycling and re-use.

Ignoring the health, social, economic and financial impact it will have on the Wellington Community.

Wellington Community is adamant. The Community does not want this Waste Incinerator. Drakenstein does not have enough waste to financially sustain this process.

Even if you don’t live close enough to breathe in the poisons directly you could be eating food that has been contaminated.

Importing of any waste to Wellington, to burn is a spectacularly bad idea.
