Jumpin Java is a local business that has served the students and faculty of Vancouver Island University for the last 18 years.  According to Jumpin Java and their employee's there is an attempt to push them out in order to bring in a bigger name, corporate entity to replace this local business.  The following are the comments from Jumpin Java's Facebook page.  We ask that students and faculty sign this petition and let the president and board of governor's know we neither approve or accept this idea and it is not how one treats a loyal, local business.

 All current and past Jumpin'Java valued patrons, JJ- VIU's Coffee Oasis of over eighteen years is reaching out for your support. We take great pride in having been your "LOCAL" campus hub, and have been commended by VIU on numerous occasions for our 18 years of exemplary service, so why do they want us gone? We are being significantly challenged to maintain our presence on campus. We have valiantly attempted to negotiate fairly and in good faith contractually with VIU ... However distinct uncertainty regarding maintaining our campus presence exists. REACH OUT, & support local business, stand up to corporate takeovers, let's maintain & press VIU to follow their mandate of a community based and locally supportive campus. We Value "YOU".
