Dear supporters, I need help from UK signers in the following eleven constituents; Totnes, Vale of Clwyd, Morley and Outwood, Heywood and Middleton, York Central, Brigg and Goole, Dewsbury, Islington South and Finsbury, Erewash, Faversham and Mid Kent, Central Ayrshire My MP Nicky Morgan has been as good as her word and is trying to help us with this petition. She wrote to Dr. Sarah Wollaston who is the chair of the health select committee. Dr. Sarah Wollaston agrees that this is an important issue but cannot commit the committee to hold an enquiry into the Department for Health policy because decisions on the future work program are made by means of a vote of the whole committee rather than dictated by the chair. She then states that she will add this to the ongoing list of possible future enquiries. What we need to do now is to get the whole Health Select Committee involved! My hope is that if we let each of these 10 committee members hear our views then this issue can be actioned much more quickly. Only supporters who live within those constituents can contact these MPs, so if you can enlist your families and friends help too, it will help to make a difference! Those of you living in the following constituents, please take two minutes and use the email address for your MP and template letter below. Nicky Morgan MP is trying to help UK patients to access life saving Injectable B12 OTC. Dennis Skinner MP has signed the petition below and other MP’s have also offered their support. https://www.change.org/p/ian-hudson-please-make-our-life-saving-injectable-vitamin-b12-hydroxocobalamin-available-over-the-counter? UK B12 deficient patients are unable to buy their life saving, Injectable vitamin B12 OTC. We cannot absorb B12 from food so injections are essential for life. Most countries around the world allow their citizens to buy this essential, harmless, injectable vitamin without prescription, from pharmacies. Due to out dated NICE Guidelines and our GP’s lack of knowledge of B12 deficiency, the vast majority of patients are restricted to just four B12 injections per year, even though the body needs B12 every day! This level of treatment is nowhere near enough to maintain health and consequently many patients remain mentally ill, bed bound, cognitively impaired, and unable to work or look after their children. Please make this issue a priority and vote to hold an inquiry into the Department for Health’s policy. If you have the time to watch even the first 5 minutes of this film below, you will see just how devastating the effects of B12 deficiency can be. It is an easily treated, serious neurological condition but patients are very often dismissed, neglected and labelled hypochondriacs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=763&v=BvEizypoyO0 Just imagine the health care savings if you can help us to make this happen. For more information on this very common, serious neurological condition please see www.b12deficiency.info Yours sincerely*
