Deem the right of the mal pratice victims
The Issue
My name is Michelle and I am starting this petition for myself as well as for the many mal- practice victims. I have seen many stories in change.org that have impacted me as a person and feel that it is a powerful tool to use as a "web" voice.
In my event, there are many things that happened but I will try and put it all in a nut shell. I endured a misdiagnosed surgery in April 2012 that has evidently changed the quality of my life and my family. I unfortunately trusted Dr. Gamal Mostafa to do surgery on my stomach to better myself in the future. I was diagnosed with diastasis (separation of the abdomen walls due to pregnancy) but had surgery for a ventral hernia repair. I was opened up, apparently had my muscles repaired, I had a mesh put it, and they cut excess skin including my belly button (which had to be reconstructed), and had a tummy tuck performed. The outcome of this surgery was not anything I imagined. I continue to suffer from pain and discomfort that have stopped me from sharing moments with my 2 small children and husband. This surgery has affected me emotionally and physically. The twist to this story is that I can not go back to the same surgeon, Dr. Mostafa, because he ended up leaving the country a month after I saw him last. When I called his office I was told he gave a week notice and left. November 2012 I received a letter from his office giving notice that he will no longer practice in that facility. Wonderful! I have attempted to contact legal advice and no one is willing to help because of the laws they have established in October 2012 against mal practice victims like myself. You would think that doctors of all types go under oath to provide standard of care for their patients and truly practice just that for the well being of that person. No one can take back what I have lost since April 9, 2012. Please sign this petition to make a difference in people that have lost hope and that want to be heard and understood.
