It is a measure of the animosity generated by the assertion that corruption of historical documents is endemic in Australian military history that this week I received a death threat by mail- along with a bullet casing inscribed 'RIP DONALD TATE 2016'. The threat was from a 'Bill Hobson' who represents a website called ANZMI- a star chamber of vigilantes purporting to out military frauds and impostors, but whose 'investigators' remain hidden from scrutiny via the use of cowardly pseudonyms. 'Bill Hobson' is the mouthpiece of this organisation and from time to time is invited on to radio shows to discuss the latest cases. Who 'Bil Hobson' actually is, is not known, although we have collected enough evidence about his antics that reveal his identity- that evidence now in the hands of Lake Illawarra detectives. Death threats by these vermin to silence any veteran who upsets the stars quo, or who seeks to highlight deficiencies in Defence record-keeping is par for the course. This week alone, two of us received death threats, while another, in Bendigo, received a parcel bomb of some sort which was defused by police and kept from he media. This is the result of Defence corruption- and the intransigence of the Australian War Memorial in correcting the historical records in relation to the 2nd D&E Platoon is just part of the vicious underbelly of the Australian Defence Force. Suffice to say that in regards to the comments made in that death threat, I have NOT taken any legal action against that particular web site, nor am I named within it for any reason. But I do know of some who are named on it and who should not be- and I support their right to have that web site made answerable for public defamation. When parliament resumes, I will pursue this matter further. Meanwhile, I am pleased to see that Mike Kelly has regained his seat in Eden-Monaro. After all, it was Mike Kelly who formally declared that the 2nd D&E Platoon DID exist in 2008- a decision the War Memorial simply thumbed its arrogant nose at.
