Fellow petitioners This is to advise that I am closing this petition down today, hoping to present it to the Director of the Australian War Memorial on Wednesday, March 2nd. This will follow the protest by war veterans at Parliament House taking place that same morning. I sincerely thank you for your posts and comments in attempting to right a military wrong. In conclusion, I will leave you with a photograph taken by one of the photographers who were embedded in the combined army/infantry force at Thua Tich back in May 1969- one of the few photographs marked 'Never to be Released' or which hasn't been destroyed. (If you were so inclined, you could also search the AWM's photographic collection, typing in the names, 'BELLIS' and 'GIBBONS' to view other relevant photographs...May 1969). Senator Jacqui Lambie has assured me she will be raising this issue in the Senate as she did for SAS veteran Evan Donaldson and his wife, Phoebe. My local MP, the Hon Stephen Jones (Member for Throsby) has also assured me he would be asking hard questions. You should note that Senator Arthur Sinodinis failed to honour his commitment to do so (given on Q&A)- but that didn't surprise me given what we now know about him- and it says much more about the type of man currently running this country. We'll see what the others do as time goes by. I can also advise that Brigadier Jane Spalding of the Defence Force has written to me within he last week or so and assured me that she will be thoroughly investigating these matters as well- given that Generals Cosgrove and Morrison didn't have the balls to do it.
