Fellow petitioners Thank you for signing this petition. However, perhaps now it's time to take one further step.... I know that some have already done this, but most wouldn't have. I wonder if you might take the time to write a quick email to either the Australian War Memorial direct, or to Senator Marise Payne- the Minister for Defence. Politicians and bureaucracies have a legislated responsibility to respond to every piece of correspondence that INCLUDES an address. They do not have to respond to quick-fire letters. Should you do this, I'm sure neither party will appreciate having to respond to thousands of letters. if you do, here is the matter again, in a nutshell. You may use all, or any, of these points: - ask why the Australian War Memorial refuses to recognise the 2nd D&E Platoon (which the government has formally recognised after two senior Australian Defence Force officers have publicly declared that it existed (Major Pratt and Major Barry Parkin) - demand that the AWM release the 235 documents it holds in relation to this platoon and which it has been at great pains to keep from public view - ask why Australian military history is regularly 'sanitised' and thus destroying its integrity Thanking you in advance.
