In a column dated March 1984, journalist Derryn Hinch had the guts of this story- just not all of it. However, he had some smarts about him- and knew that the war records were regularly being censored and sanitised by defence and other military bureaucracies (like the AWM). I am now referring him to the Facebook page: '2nd D&E Platoon' where I am placing additional evidence daily for the education of all Australians to show how our Defence Force regards the Australian public- stupid and gullible. I am not a lone voice here. Every day I receive correspondence from this person or that (and many such comments on the petition itself) about men and women affected by these corrupt practices. Why does it happen? So that men like General Peter Cosgrove and General David Hurley can end up in positions of high office, as they have- despite the endless claims of abuse by other members of the military that happened under their respective watches. If only Australians could grasp just what an outrage is being perpetrated on them by our Defence Force and the Australian War Memorial.
