Save Crawford Surgery
The Issue
A decision has been taken to close Crawford Surgery without proper consultation with patients. Local Surgery and Prescription facilities will from 1st November only be available in the village of Leadhills which is 7 miles away.
This will have a major impact on patients from Elvanfoot, Crawford and Abington, mainly the elderly. Patients may, due to their medical condition be in no fit state to travel, plus being in a rural area, public transport is very poor. Leadhills also suffers badly from winter weather causing problems to even those traveling by car.
With there being more than adequate facilities at the current premises within Crawford, it is vital that the local surgery is retained and that the health of the patients is of PRIME consideration. We ask that the Health Board reconsider their decision.
