Support a UWO Fall Reading Week for 2017

Last year, representatives of every undergraduate faculty/affiliate unanimously declared at the University Students’ Council general assembly a need for a Fall Reading Week to address the issues of anxiety around midterm examinations. This petition has been created to allow you to have a chance to accompany the lobbying efforts of your Student Leaders in expressing to Dr. Amit Chakma, President and Chair of the Senate at Western University, that Western Students not only want, but need a Fall Reading Week.
Despite strides in the betterment of Western’s capacity in dealing with these issues, recent tragedies prove that these efforts are not enough for the students who call Western their home. Mental Health issues are not issues that can be ignored on this campus any longer. It is for this reason that it is more important than ever that all students join their student advocates and express to the Senate of Western University that the addition of a full week break following the Thanksgiving Long Weekend is essential for easing anxiety and providing the “best student experience”.
By signing this petition, you acknowledge that the students of this world-class institution deserve better, and that the “best student experience”, which Western promises, involves a Fall Reading Week.
