Please continue to apply the pressure and write your MPP and Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, Christine Elliott.
It's concerning that a number of you have received responses telling you that claims of the cuts were "false media" - yet - on the Legislative floor Christine Elliott stated the College funding was "under review" and it was because of "their respect for midwives" that they are appealing the Human Rights Tribunal ruling that says the government must address the pay equity gap midwives face.
Keep writing letters, keep making noise for midwives of Ontario. A group of concerned citizens has put together this tool to help you make it easy. I wrote the following to Christine Elliott (she still has not responded to me) and copied my MPP Amy Fee in it. Feel free to leverage this copy in your own letters and emails!

Hello Ms. Elliott,
I very much would like to connect with you on this issue and am patiently waiting for a response. I'm deeply concerned about a few more developments and need to understand the following:
- Why are PC MPPs responding to constituents saying reports of the cuts were "false media?"
- Do you understand and appreciate why midwifery is the only health care profession receiving operational support? (There's only 910 of them who currently pay the highest College fees of health care professionals at $2200/year and EVERY College received support until they were self-sufficient. Their current fees are especially burdensome because they are facing a gender-based pay equity gap and make about 37% less than they should. Not to mention a retroactive cut at this point in the year is especially low.)
- How much money will it cost your government to appeal the Human Rights Tribunal ruling that determined midwives face a gender-based pay equity gap?
- How is appealing the ruling and refusing to pay midwives what they deserve showing you "respect" them?
I'm very eager for your response.
- Cheryl
