On Saturday November 16, CTV journalist Marta Czurylowicz interviewed my sister Laura and I about the petition and our dismay over these latest cuts to the College of Midwives of Ontario (CMO). Of course not everything can fit into the allotted time slot, but this is the main message we want anyone following this to understand:

Investing in midwives is good for Ontario women, their babies, the health care system AND taxpayers.

Do NOT accept from Vic Fedeli, Christine Elliot or Doug Ford that these cuts were part of a strategy for sustainability. Midwifery expansion and integration into a health care system PROPELS sustainability and cost efficiencies (not to mention providing optimal choice of care for thousands of pregnant women).
