I wanted to let you guys know that my MPP's office called me yesterday and to say I am unbelievably upset at what they said is an understatement. I had spoken with them about a week ago and they were great, as they were putting in the effort to get me in touch with someone at the Ministry of Health. They were quite clear that I was to call back if I did not hear anything, so I did just that when the Ministry failed to contact me.
They returned my call yesterday and their tune had changed completely. I was told that emergency surgeries had been happening the whole time and that it has been the doctor's who have been choosing who's surgery was priority. They went so far as to tell me that they personally knew someone who needed a pace maker and got it installed within 4 days. Thereby, my surgery must not have been deemed "an emergency". This made me extremely upset for several reasons:
1. Why should I be on death's doorstep before I get care? Anyone who has had cancer could tell you that it is a very TIME SENSITIVE disease.
2. This is NOT OUR PHYSICIANS' FAULT. This situation happened because our government has been failing to invest in our healthcare system. Our health care workers are working their butts off with what resources they have been given.
3.I have STAGE FOUR cancer and, because of this government's poor planning, my surgery was delayed up until now. 
4. When is someone going to start taking accountability rather than passing the blame onto someone else? 

I also heard back from the PM's office. Of course, they recommended I contact the Ministry of Health for answers. This government need to own their mistakes. How can you change something that you fail to acknowledge?
