We hope you and yours have had happy holidays, and thank you for signing Democracy Watch’s petition to Stop Doug Ford from violating the Charter at: https://www.change.org/p/doug-ford-don-t-violate-the-charter-of-rights.

Unfortunately, Ford continues to try to violate our Charter rights, and Ontario's Integrity Commissioner continues to fail to enforce the ethics rules in Ontario's lobbying law, and the Commissioner's weak enforcement in part caused the Greenbelt scandal as Ford and PC Party-connected lobbyists for property developers fundraised for and lobbied the Ford Cabinet in secret, and the Skills Development Fund scandal as Ford and PC Party-connected lobbyists for businesses also fundraised for and lobbied the Ford Cabinet in secret.

Now Ford is proposing to increase Ontario’s political donation limit by almost 50%, and to eliminate limits on pre-election spending by big money lobby groups, which will essentially make Ontario into a “best government money can buy” province.  This violates voters’ Charter rights to free and fair elections and integrity in government.  Click here to see Global News article about these proposed big-money changes featuring Democracy Watch.

And Ford’s PC Party government has also passed Bill 5 which gives him king-like powers that violate the Constitution (click here for details), and made Ontario’s appointments of judges partisan and political, which violates our constitutional right to impartial, independent judges and courts (click here for details).

We need your support now to stop these attempts by Doug Ford to violate the Constitution, and also to stop big money in politics and secret, unethical lobbying and unethical government policy-making in Ontario’s government.
