In 2014, a next gen reboot of a Capcom classic, Strider was released for digital download on Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. This game was a fantastic addition to consoles in a video gaming landscape where open-world rpgs and online first person shooters have dominated the market.

This game added something that players had been missing for many years, a solid side-scrolling action game that held a wealth of secrets, but at the same time didn't hold you hostage. Most games in the market require a steep investment in regards to time, but Strider is meant to be completed within short bursts of gameplay. On Xbox and Playstation there is even an acheivement/trophy for completing the game in under four hours. There is no other game on the market that gives a great gameplay experience without asking for a massive time commitment.

The Nintendo Switch would be a perfect home for Strider because this console is the epitome of good gameplay and convenience. Wouldn't it be great to boot up your Switch on the go and spend a few minutes at a time as Capcom's premier ninja, Strider Hiryu? The game itself has savepoints peppered throughout the landscape that make it easy to put down at a moment's notice, and resume playing whenever you're ready.

Personally, I am a big fan of having a small library of games downloaded directly onto my console for brief bits of entertainment and Strider fit perfectly into my catalogue when I caught it on a PS4 flash sale a while back. Even the original price point of $14.99 is suitable for this game, and I would love to see it get ported to the Nintendo Switch so that I can add it to my growing library of games. Wouldn't you?
