Lawmakers intent on abandoning gray wolf recovery have introduced bills to slash all protections afforded to wolves in Wyoming, Minnesota, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
It is an appalling decision as wolves are innocent creatures who hunt to survive, not to kill for fun. Don’t they deserve better?
By the turn of the 16th century, wolves were extinct in England and Wales. However, they held for longer in other parts of the British realm. In Scotland, wolves survived almost 200 years more but I have never seen one. If we kill more wolves we will be hunting and killing the most magnificent of species, given a bad name from fairy tales as scary, cruel and human-eaters. But, what most people should learn to know, instead of hunting them, we could learn to live along peacefully with them. There are many ways to do this: create more nature reserves and help breed them until they thrive in the reserves, create safer havens on livestock’s land so wolves can’t hunt there or tutor citizens about wolves, showing that they are more afraid of us, than we are of them.
If we get rid of these creatures, we will have less in the world. Do we want to make these majestic wolves extinct?
No, we don’t.
You may say that wolves are killers. Dangerous. Scary.
But really do you know who the killers are?MAN
Do you know who the dangerous are? MAN.
Do you know who the scary are? MAN.
Because with every shot we make we are killing innocent lives that deserve better. You are the killers of livestock-you eat meat every day when you don’t need it to survive like wolves do. Hunters are scary, dangerous killers in a wolf’s eyes. Why?
