Reduce the amount of oil drilling in oceans

The Issue

Deep water drilling is a process where in oil is extracted from the ocean floor. This method doesn't produce more oil than that of normal drilling, it doesn't produce better oil, and its not even cheaper. These companies are drilling in the oceans because a good majority of oil lies under the ocean floors. The oil that they get from drilling in the ocean comes at a devastating price. When the oil leaks out into the ocean the effect it leaves is appalling. From sea fowls coated black, to fish being born with birth defects, making them incapable of survival. Not only does this oil ruin the ocean and the creatures that inhabit it, but it also increases the amount of carbon dioxide that is released into the atmosphere when burned. The impact on the environment caused by the drilling of oil can not be worth the mere 30% of the oil industry it makes up. This issue is exacerbated by the negligence of our leaders and the laws they pass. They refuse to acknowledge the harmful affects, instead opting for ignorance while lining their pockets. By no stretch of the word, they are killing everyone's future. That is why you should care about deep water drilling and you should spread the word so everyone starts actually doing something about this. If you don't want to fully get involved you can still reduce the amount of oil you use by using alternate methods to solutions that require a little more work, such as biking places instead of driving, riding the bus, avoid purchasing plastics or accepting plastic bags at a grocery store, lower your power usage at home, reuse products if possible, and stop buying bottled water. You can also help by supporting a president that has these ideas in mind as well as ideas to help stop global warming in the future. You may not think that just 1 person can have an impact on something as huge as the oil industry but if we all group together and demand a change we can make an impact.
