Slavery is Over

And while we are a ways away from being treated as equals, I believe the first step is to purge ourselves of the past. 

Yes, history is important. 
Yes, we should remember where we came from,
But not at the expense of reminding Us that we were once considered objects by the same governing body who preserves this symbol of hatred for African Americans. 

It’s time to let that part of the past go so that we can build a better future
