The National Anthem has always been a vocal symbol of US patriotism, freedom, and honor. In recent years, that sentient has faded, we see athletes take a knee during the anthem at the beginning of the game, children and teens refusing to take their hats off during the song, why? Well...the anthem just doesn’t BOP. Let’s be real, the National Anthem is booooring and just a chore to listen too. It doesn’t instill the same feelings of patriotism as it used too.

  In 1998 a new video game hit the arcades that soon would sweep the nation. The games a 2-D arcade fighting game called “Marvel vs Capcom”, the game pitted Marvel superheroes and villains againt Capcom’s popular video game characters. Besides being a fantastic fast paced action game the music for it was PHENOMENAL! Each character got their unique theme that represented them and their values, it really brought the characters to life and didn’t make them feel like standard fighting game characters. One of the themes that stood out was Marvel’s own Captain America. His theme is one of the best themes for a video game character ever! It’s so intense and epic it fits the character of Captain America perfectly. 

 The theme instills the same feeling of US freedom and patriotism as the National Anthem but, waaaaaaay better and more catchy. Just one listening makes you want to ride a giant bald eagle over the White House side by side fighter jets, while fireworks go off in the background. It’s that great. Which is why I am making this petition to urge The United States government to make Captain America’s Marvel vs Capcom theme the new National Anthem, to make Americans feel a new sense of pride and honor in their country.
