Today Michael Loeve responded to our petition. The new proposals he has suggested will go a long way for those financially affected by the changes to B&Q’s pay and reward framework. While he has not reversed the new terms and conditions imposed in March he has agreed to pay an additional 12 months’ worth of losses to those financially affected on top of the 12 months already in place.
Without each and every signature on this petition I am sure we would not be receiving this news from B&Q today. I am really proud of what this petition has achieved so far. I want to extend my deepest thanks to all of you who have signed the petition, from B&Q colleagues and people affected by the national living wage in other businesses to supportive members of the public.
I hope that this petition demonstrates to big business everywhere that people will not stand by and watch the lower paid workers suffer pay cuts to subsidise the national living wage.
MP Siobhain McDonagh will be conducting a parliamentary debate on Monday the 18th of April to discuss the national living wage and I would encourage you to please write to your local MP ensuring they attend and represent your interests.
I am really overwhelmed by the support each one of you has given to this petition.
Thank you,
Kevin
