This beautiful muscovy duck heard from a little birdie. Is it possible that Lake Conrad 2 could be saved from infill development? As she gobbled up minnows just past Red Bridge, a couple of young ladies on a nature walk around the Wycliffe Presbyterian Church property took note of her splendid coloring. You might think that she was all alone enjoying these autumn temperatures with a sunny dip in the pond. But the turtles, frogs, crickets, and otters were all close by, noting the new visitor to their land. An occassional glance at the sky might reveal a soaring osprey, bald eagle, or red-tailed hawk. The snowy white Great Egrets would show up soon and give her a little competition for her fishing venture. She would need to find a safe place to hunker down before nightfall, when the fox would start roaming this natural area also looking for a fulfilling meal!

As the Open Space Acquisition Program for the City of Virginia Beach meets this coming week to considering buying this land to preserve it, your continued support is requested. We are just over 6000 signatures including our ink petitions, and our city has taken notice of what we hold dear...our waterways are some of the only natural spaces we have left in Virginia Beach.  Please promote saving our Virginia Beach wetlands through signing and sharing this petition.
