5 Year Anniversary Event, Come One, Come All.
On February 18, 2015, Torrance Refinery explosion caused “a near miss on (releasing) 50,000 lb of Modified Hydrofluoric Acid.” Those exposed could have suffered serious and irreversible injury including organ damage, respiratory damage, blindness and even death.
Five year later, despite massive community effort and overwhelming evidence of the threat, very little has been done to eliminate the risk.
Join us to mark the 5 year anniversary on Saturday, February 15, 9-10 AM at the Doubletree Hotel, Hawthorne Blvd, Torrance.
The event will include speakers, short TRAA-produced videos, and an announcement of a major new campaign to mandate that the Torrance Refining Company and Valero in Wilmington — the only two refineries in California that use HF — transition to one of the modern, vastly safer processes.
