AB1645: THE BILL'S SURVIVAL IS OUR SURVIVAL 916-319-2020

MODIFIED HYDROFLUORIC ACID RISKGardena, CA, United States
Apr 18, 2017
The U.S. Chemical Safety Board determined we had a near miss on February 18, 2015 when an explosion could have unleashed enough MHF to kill thousands of people. Do you or your loved ones feel threatened in the South , where the Torrance and Wilmington Valero refineries have large stores of MHF? Do you feel this endangers your family, friends, coworkers, neighbors or pets? Yes? California Assemblymember Bill Quirk at 916-319-2020 NEEDS TO KNOW! Quirk chairs the CA Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials (ESTM) committee. Early next week, the committee votes whether to push forward AB1645, the bill to ban MHF at California refineries. Quirk can either help the bill thru OR- as happened with a previous bill 1 year ago – the MHF ban can be allowed to die in committee. Call Quirk’s office: register your concern about MHF and your wish that he vote for AB1645. Rather write? Send an email to Bill Quirk via ESTM staff member: nathan.little@asm.ca.gov, blind copy info@torrancesaferefinery.org. Whether you call 916-319-2020 or email nathan.little@asm.ca.gov, IT’S IMPORTANT THAT YOU TELL HIM NOW - BEFORE THE VOTE. If you know anyone who lives in Assemblymember Quirk's district (Hayward) willing to write or call, please provide them with this information: Assemblymember Bill Quirk, District 20, ESTM Committee Chair: P.O. Box 942849, 916-319-2020 Fax: (916) 319-2120 Website: https://a20.asmdc.org/ Contact via email Nathan Little, ESTM staff person: nathan.little@asm.ca.gov
