Dear Supporters,
It’s been 30 months since we first launched this petition to protect our precious Lagan Valley Regional Park, and your incredible support has brought us to a pivotal moment. The Quarterlands GROUP is now preparing to attend a specially convened Planning Committee meeting with the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council Planning Department.
We’re so close to making a real difference, but we need your help now more than ever.
What We’re Fighting For:
Our mission remains the same: to protect the unique biodiversity of the Lagan Valley Regional Park and ensure that brownfield sites are prioritized over greenfield development. We believe the Council must respect the importance of this protected landscape and avoid unsustainable urban sprawl that threatens our environment and local wildlife. Development should focus on renewing underutilized brownfield sites, not encroaching on our valuable green spaces.
How You Can Help:
To show the Council that this is a deeply felt issue within our community, we need to pack the room at the upcoming planning committee meeting—and for those who cannot attend in person, we’re asking you to spread the word on social media.
Attend the Council Meeting: We need as many voices as possible to physically attend the meeting and stand with us. Your presence will demonstrate the community’s unwavering commitment to protecting Lagan Valley.
📅 Date: 18th September
🕒 Time: 5pm
📍 Location: The Council Chamber & Remote Locations: LCCC Lagan Valley Island, Lisburn BT27 4RL
Share this Petition Again: If you can’t attend, you can still make an impact! Please repost this petition on your social media platforms, encourage your friends and family to sign, and help us build more awareness. We need to show the Council that we have widespread support and that the future of Lagan Valley matters to everyone.
Let’s Make Our Voices Heard:
Your dedication has already brought 1,904 signatures to this cause—an incredible show of strength for our small community! But as we approach this crucial meeting, we need to make it clear to the Council that we will not sit by and let our green spaces be taken over by unnecessary development when there are more sustainable options available.
You can read more about our objections and see more about what we are protecting on our website quarterlands.com
Thank you for being a part of this movement. Together, we can protect Lagan Valley Regional Park and secure a greener, more sustainable future for all.
Please attend the meeting or share today to help us make a difference!
