Dear Supporters,
We have an important update regarding our ongoing efforts to protect the unique biodiversity of Quarterlands and the Lagan Valley Regional Park. Recently, we captured video of a badger foraging in a Quarterlands Garden. This clear evidence of badger activity adds significant weight to our objections against the proposed development on the site LA05/2022/0033/F.
This discovery, along with the previously documented diversity of plant and wildlife in the area, contradicts the findings of the original AECOM report and its subsequent 'in-depth' study. Despite numerous submissions highlighting the ecological richness of the site, the planning authorities continue to support the destruction of this habitat for an ugly, unwanted and oversized housing project that Drumbeg neither needs nor wants.
We have shared this evidence with Badgers NI, who have assured us they will make formal contact with NIEA. We urge the planning authorities to reconsider the potential unlawful consequences for this highly protected species and the broader environmental impact.
Thank you for your continued support. Please share this update and our petition widely to help us protect our Area of Natural Beauty and the only Regional Park in Northern Ireland from experiencing further catastrophic biodiversity loss.
