Save Tin Pan Alley

Aug 27, 2017
JK Rowling has declined to comment upon Denmark St the street where her million pound BBC-HBO special is set. The multi millionaire author of Harry Potter is friends of Nica Burns whose Nimex Theatre Co is putting on Harry Potter 'live' in neartby Soho where Ms Burns has somewhat unnecessarily blocked off Ramilles St next to the Coach & Horses for 'developments'. Ms Burns is also responsible for a new Theatre currently under construction on the site of the much loved and lamented former Astoria Theatre, built in 1927, which was Demolished in 2008-9 by Crossrail via a Compulsory Purchase Order under the 2008 Crossrail Act. So we were both saddened and surprised that Ms Burns, Ms Rowling's friend, is behind the new theatre on the site of the former Astoria. It is to be a purpose built theatre, but exclusively for plays and not a 'new concert venue' as Mayor Ken Livingston once promised. The campaign to Save Denmark St is naturally saddened and disappointed by all of those named in this press release. We thought you should know.
