Keep Streets Live Campaign
Jan 15, 2016
Thank you for your support which helped us successfully challenge Birmingham City Council's plans to criminalise busking last summer. I am pleased to say that the local authority are now committed to working with the busking community to develop busking guidance that celebrates and promotes street culture. The Council have been working closely with the Musicians Union and the Keep Streets Live Campaign to develop a busking guide. Together, our aim is to make the City Centre more welcoming to buskers by reducing red tape, encouraging cooperation and having a fair and easily understood set of steps. The guide will follow the principles already established in the Liverpool and York Busking Guides. There is an Open Busker's meeting on Thursday 21st January 2016 at the Bullring Management Offices (see details below) to which you are warmly invited. This meeting will be facilitated by representatives from the Musicians Union and the Keep Streets Live campaign. Venue Directions - Bullring, Level 4 Upper Mall West, Bullring Management Offices, B5 4BU. Access to Level 4 is via steps and lift located next to Muffin Break and Opposite Victoria’s Secret. The meeting will be held in Conference Room A. There is a Facebook event page for the meeting which you can join and share here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1077129925659929/ If you are unable to attend but would like to have your views expressed at the meeting, you can email contact@keepstreetslive.com or post on the event page. If you are able to attend can you please confirm by emailing citycentre@birimingham.gov.uk Thank you once again for all your support. Without you, the future of busking in Birmingham would have been very different. Love, Jonny Walker Founding Director Keep Streets Live Campaign http://keepstreetslive.com/
