UPDATE: Urgent action needed for dogs in labs!

Transparency about wasteful and cruel government-funded experiments on dogs and other animals is under attack. We need you to CONTACT CONGRESS NOW! This week--thanks to you and more than 177,000 others who signed our Change.org petition--the White Coat Waste Project worked with influential bipartisan Congress members to introduce the Federal Accountability in Chemical Testing (FACT) Act. It’s the first bill of 2017 that targets wasteful government animal testing, and would increase transparency about animal tests and government efforts to end them. To our shock, the very next morning we woke up to the discovery that the government had–without notice–taken down its entire database containing information about how many dogs, rabbits, and other animals are locked in government and other taxpayer-funded laboratories. The story went viral—you may have even seen it—when we took the scandal to reporters at the Associated Press, Washington Post, New York Times, and countless other outlets. Here are some details: http://blog.whitecoatwaste.org/2017/02/04/wcw-exposes-usda-secrecy-scandal/ Passing the FACT Act (HR 816) is vital to help counteract this attack on transparency about how taxpayer-funded laboratories are abusing animals in wasteful testing. Please click the link below to urge Congress to pass this important bill to end secrecy about taxpayer-funded animal testing: http://www.congressweb.com/WCWP/6 Thank you for your support! Sincerely, Justin Goodman Vice President, Advocacy and Public Policy White Coat Waste Project
