Hindu holidays are not yet recognized by the Department of Education (DOE) the same way other holidays such as Christmas and Eid are.  Hindu students are required to attend school on their religious holidays, instead of having the day off to observe them.   We are proposing that the  Department Of Education add two of the Hindu holidays Diwali the festival of lights, and Holi, the festival of colors to the School calendar. Please help to support us in bringing Hindu representation in New York City.
