BACKGROUND:
WITH A STORY ON PAR WITH THAT OF PUPPY DOE, Gabe (short for "Gabriel", as he is a Messenger Angel sharing his message of awareness that abuse and neglect exist and many more like him need help too!) was a 9-month old puppy who lived his whole life on a chain in a back yard, neglected and abused. When Gabe's situation was reported to animal control, his owners allegedly tried to "get rid of the evidence" by beating Gabe, shooting him with birdshot and leaving him in a field to die. According to the woman who rescued Gabe from the field, there was a turkey vulture next to Gabe where he was curled up waiting to die.

Gabe was subsequently taken to the Guilford County Animal Shelter in North Carolina where his story only gets worse. He was apparently left behind bars and out of sight at the back of the shelter for 3 weeks without appropriate veterinary care until some wonderful "Team Gabe" members came to his rescue. They took Gabe out of the shelter and lavished him with tender love and care for a week. Unfortunately, Gabe was unable to overcome his injuries and passed away on May 18, 2014.

The person who was charged with animal cruelty in relation to the original abuse of Gabe walked out of court with a slap on the wrist. BUT NOW WE HAVE A CHANCE TO GET SOME SMALL SEMBLANCE OF JUSTICE FOR GABE. The Guilford County Animal Shelter, at which Gabe was housed, has been taken over by Guilford County officials amidst allegations of animal cruelty, failure to provide adequate veterinary care, misappropriation of funds, and improper drug administration. The Executive Director of the shelter, Marsha Williams, has been fired from her position. Please sign the petition to ask that she and/or any other people potentially responsible for contributing to Gabe’s pain, suffering, and death (and the pain, suffering, and death of several other animals at the shelter) by denying him the appropriate care he so desperately needed be investigated, charged and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. For Gabe. Rest in peace, sweetheart. We love you and you will never be forgotten. <3 <3

THE PETITION:
Prosecute, to the fullest extent of the law, the person(s) from Guilford County Animal Shelter who allegedly denied proper veterinary care to puppy Gabe (and other animals) as required by Guilford County Animal Ordinances and any other pertinent legislation, and ensure the necessary legislation and policies are put in place to guarantee that no other animal is ever allowed to suffer as Gabe did.
