The City of Dallas is looking to change the street name from Gaston Avenue, to an undetermined name. For those of us that reside or do business along this stretch of Dallas, will experience an undetermined and possibly exorbitant cost associated with said name change. Any legal documents including loans, deeds, leases, and other will have to be revised to accommodate the change of our street name. The city estimates that it will cost a little over $44,000 to make said changes, but the costs to us that are located on Gaston Avenue, including Baylor Hospital, would be much greater,

When we think of the name Gaston, we think of the historic homes, tree lined streets, and one of the founders of our city. We do not think of someone who fought for the confederacy. Gaston helped create the city we love, and also gave us the land where the State Fair sits today. Please help us preserve what we find special about Gaston, and leave our street name as it has been for over 100 years!
