Update! 4/17/26

With the upcoming evidentiary hearing scheduled for next week, we want supporters to feel their involvement is impactful and valued as we share progress on Karen's case. This is the civil side of Karen’s case, and the criminal proceedings are set for June, according to current information. Your donations on the GoFundMe have helped Karen retain legal representation. The legal costs continue to grow, so every donation to help offset the expense is significant.

The seizure of Karen’s animal came at a time when the facility that is holding them had recently announced it was in a $750,000 financial crisis. They have used this situation to raise tens of thousands of dollars and have received substantial donations of food and supplies. To the best of our knowledge, the facility that is holding her animals, where they are being cooped up in crates and outdoor kennels, is seeking permanent possession of them following next week’s hearing.

This would not be a good outcome for the animals. We do not know what this place will do with animals that cannot be adopted out, but if permanent possession is granted, the animals could face uncertain futures. The worst-case scenario for any of the animals is that they may not be around to see their next birthday, depending on decisions made by others in charge of or connected to this facility. Your support can help prevent this outcome.

With Karen, animals that are not good candidates for adoption would be able to live out their lives as sanctuary animals: good food, a yard, and a loving human to spend their days with.
