Over the past couple of months the FBI and it's director have been increasing their persistence on placing backdoor in encryption technology. This has culminated with the FBI choosing to use the All Writs Act of 1789 to justify an overreach of authority.

As an individual who studies computer security and cryptography I understand that the nature of giving someone a backdoor key means that it's only a matter of time before it becomes publicly available, either through fault of the person holding the key or the thousands of people who will be looking for a way to break the backdoor for their own ends.

I believe we as a nation of free individuals, must censure acts such as this to ensure that the line between mass surveillance and freedom is maintained. I am calling on the signers of this petition to reach out and ask our elected officials to get educated about what the FBI is asking for and publicly condemn their behaviors that attempt to make the cellular and data network more dangerous for people to use.
