Stop the release of NC voter data

The Issue

Dear Director Strach,

As citizens of the State of North Carolina, we request that you and the State Board of Elections and Ethics Enforcement refrain from sharing any information about voter identity with the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity. That includes our names, addresses, voter registration, and voter history.

Originally, a letter sent to elections officials in all 50 states asked for names, addresses, birth dates and party affiliations of registered voters in each state. It also sought felony convictions, military statuses, the last four digits of Social Security numbers and voting records dating back to 2006.

In light of the magnitude of this loss of privacy, we appreciate that you are only considering sharing names, addresses, voter registration, and voter history. While we acknowledge that this information may be publicly available on the web, we believe that the State of North Carolina should not comply with the request on principle.

Please do not share information that identifies voters by name, address, party affiliation, and voting history with the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity.
