Pakistani security forces have a long history of kidnapping activists and holding them in captivity for many months and years without releasing them. There are reports that several kidnapped persons die because of the immense torture, and their dead bodies are dumped. Families often wait for years. Pakistan is a country where there is no state social security system. Therefore, kidnapping breadwinner of the family means total devastation and destitution of family and children. But the fate of Amar Fayaz was different only because people like you stepped-up and showed immense support to get him released. Your signatures and involvement in the campaign were so powerful that the Pakistani state and security apparatus were forced to release Amar. There are reports of torture, but he overall he is fine. An important thing to remember is that we have not changed the character of the Pakistani security apparatus. They are corrupt and brutal. Just today, a young innocent student was shot dead when he was returning from his friend’s house by the security forces in Islamabad. While creating a hell-like situation in Pakistan, leaders and senior security officers and their families enjoy a luxurious life abroad with the corrupted money.
