Dear friends, We’ve received alarming news about the health of Oleg Sentsov who’s been on hunger for 43 DAYS now. His lawyer Dmitriy Dinze visited Sentsov in prison. According to Dinze, Oleg has lost 13 kilo and begun to have heart and kidney problems. He doesn’t feel well and moves very little trying to save his strength. Judging by the reaction of the Russian authorities that try to avoid the topic of pardon, Oleg will need to be strong. On the 26th of May, there was the first critical moment - Oleg was taken to a hospital and offered to be fed, but he turned the offer down. A second time may be very dangerous for him. But we’ve already managed to achieve some success! The US Department of State issued a statement calling on Russia to release Oleg Sentsov and other political prisoners (https://www.state.gov/r/pa/prs/ps/2018/06/283289.htm). The G7 Ambassadors, to whom we had appealed, also called on to release Oleg and other Ukrainian detainees (https://twitter.com/G7AmbReformUA/status/1009705731690516480). On Thursday, The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will hold a debate on Ukrainian political prisoners, and this is also important. Dear friends, this is about saving a human life, a life that can end at any moment... We have to keep on fighting for the life of Oleg Sentsov. He’s been on hunger strike to save the lives of other political prisoners. He is not asking for his own release. This is why it’s us who have to try to get him out of prison!
