On October 9, five days after this petition was started, the Broadway League announced that it had changed its mind: All Broadway marquees are now going to be dimmed in honor of Gavin Creel. The date for that dimming will be determined in consultation with Gavin's family, and has not yet been announced. 

We are grateful to the Broadway League for listening and for changing course. Thanks also to the media outlets that picked up this story, and of course to the more than 20,000 people who signed their names in support. The rapid growth of this petition was one sign among many of just how much Gavin Creel is missed in this community.
