# PETITION OF THE DESCENDANTS OF SEODING

## OUR ANCESTRY. OUR LAND. OUR DEVELOPMENT. OUR FUTURE.

### A CALL TO PROTECT, DEVELOP AND CREATE LASTING ECONOMIC VALUE FROM OUR FOREFATHERS' LAND

We, the descendants of Seoding, come together with a shared responsibility to protect the land, heritage and future that were entrusted to us by our forefathers.

Our land should not remain a source of conflict, uncertainty, speculation or uncontrolled individual benefit.

**It must become a foundation for development, opportunity and lasting wealth for future generations.**

We are therefore calling for a new approach to the management and development of land associated with the ancestral heritage of Seoding.

### WE ARE NOT AGAINST DEVELOPMENT — WE ARE CALLING FOR BETTER DEVELOPMENT

We believe Seoding has enormous potential.

Our location within the John Taolo Gaetsewe mining economy, our people, our young population, our natural resources and our ancestral land provide an opportunity to build something much greater than individual plots or short-term transactions.

We want to see land transformed into:

**Land → Development → Assets → Income → Beneficiation → Reinvestment → Intergenerational Wealth**

We want developments that can create businesses, jobs, housing, agricultural opportunities, commercial activities, training, infrastructure and investment.

We want to **build assets rather than simply consume opportunities.**

### STOP THE LOSS OF OUR COLLECTIVE DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES

We are deeply concerned that weaknesses in land administration and development processes can result in ancestral land and economic opportunities being lost through:

* Unauthorised occupation or allocation;
* Uncontrolled land transactions;
* Speculation and private capture;
* Secret agreements and arrangements;
* Individual benefit from opportunities that should create broader community value; and
* Development taking place without a clear long-term plan.

We therefore call for greater transparency, accountability and collective participation in decisions affecting land and major development opportunities associated with Seoding.

**No secret land deals.
No private capture of collective development opportunities.
No development without a purpose.
No selling away the future for short-term gain.**

### ORGANISING THE DESCENDANTS

We believe the descendants themselves must become organised participants in the economic development of Seoding.

Our initial group is being organized around **100 descendants**, with the intention of growing this movement to more beneficiaries and beyond**, organized through verified family and descendant structures.

The proposed **R100  contribution** is not a payment for an individual piece of land.

It is a contribution towards building the organisation, developing our collective capacity and preparing the foundation for meaningful socio-economic development.

Our objective is to create a credible and organized descendant structure capable of:

* Identifying development opportunities;
* Mobilizing descendants;
* Developing professional proposals;
* Attracting investors and development partners;
* Supporting proper planning and approvals;
* Protecting collective development opportunities;
* Creating businesses and productive assets; and
* Ensuring that descendants participate meaningfully in the benefits created.

### DEVELOPMENT MUST BENEFIT PEOPLE

Our vision is not to exclude the broader Seoding community.

We believe **descendants should receive priority beneficiation from opportunities arising from their ancestral heritage**, while the wider community must also benefit through:

* Jobs;
* Local procurement;
* Small-business opportunities;
* Skills development;
* Training;
* Infrastructure;
* Community services; and
* Other meaningful economic opportunities.

This is how ancestral land can become a source of opportunity for an entire community.

### A NEW DEVELOPMENT MODEL FOR SEODING

We call for cooperation between descendants, the Traditional Authority, investors, architect, government and other development partners to create a structured development model for Seoding.

We want to move from:

**Discussion → Planning → Investment → Development → Assets → Income → Beneficiation → Reinvestment**

We already have people contributing towards community initiatives and professional capacity being developed, including architectural planning for a proposed mixed-use development.

The time has come to move from ideas to implementation.

### OUR DEMAND

We, the undersigned descendants of Seoding, call for:

1. **The protection of land associated with our ancestral heritage from unauthorised allocation, occupation, sale, speculation and private capture.**

2. **Transparent and accountable processes** for major land and development decisions.

3. **The organisation and verification of Seoding descendants** through a credible family and beneficiary register.

4. **A structured Seoding Development Plan** identifying priority areas for housing, business, agriculture, tourism, infrastructure, education, skills development and other productive activities.

5. **The creation of a Seoding Land and Development Opportunity Register** so that major opportunities are identified, recorded and protected from private capture.

6. **The attraction of responsible investors and development partners** who can bring capital, expertise, technology and markets.

7. **Meaningful participation and beneficiation for verified descendants** from development opportunities connected to their ancestral heritage.

8. **Meaningful opportunities for the wider Seoding community**, particularly through employment, procurement, enterprise development and skills development.

9. **Strong financial, contractual and governance safeguards** to prevent corruption, conflicts of interest, undisclosed commissions and misuse of collective resources.

10. **The protection of graves, cultural heritage and environmentally sensitive areas** as development takes place.

### WE MUST THINK BEYOND OUR GENERATION

We do not want to inherit land only to leave our children the same problems we inherited.

We want our children to inherit:

**Businesses.
Buildings.
Infrastructure.
Skills.
Institutions.
Investment opportunities.
Income-generating assets.
And a stronger community.**

We must therefore adopt a principle:

### **DO NOT EAT THE SEED.**

Not every rand generated from development should be distributed immediately.

Some resources must be reinvested so that today's development can finance tomorrow's development.

That is how we create **intergenerational wealth.**

### OUR COLLECTIVE DECLARATION

We are descendants of Seoding.

We have a responsibility to respect our ancestors, protect our heritage and prepare the land for future generations.

We believe our ancestral heritage should become a platform for **socio-economic development, not division.**

We believe development must be organised, transparent, professional and sustainable.

We believe investors should see Seoding as a place of opportunity.

We believe our young people should see Seoding as a place where they can build their future.

And we believe the value created from development must be managed responsibly so that it continues to benefit generations to come.

**We are not gathering to divide what our forefathers left us.**

### **WE ARE GATHERING TO MULTIPLY IT.**

We therefore call upon the descendants of Seoding to stand together, organise ourselves, protect our heritage and participate actively in building the economic future of our community.

**OUR ANCESTRY.
OUR LAND.
OUR DEVELOPMENT.
OUR FUTURE.**

### PETITION

By signing this petition, I support the call for the protection, responsible development and collective beneficiation of land associated with the ancestral heritage of Seoding, and I support the establishment of a transparent, organised and development-focused framework through which descendants and relevant stakeholders can work together to create lasting economic opportunities and intergenerational wealth.
