Close Diablo Valley College until students are safe
The Issue
Currently many students are living in turmoil due to the many fires plaguing Diablo Valley college. Students are being forced to evacuate their homes or are living in darkness due to the power outages. Some highways are shut down in certain areas making it near impossible to travel to school. How can our administrators expect students to attend school when they are unable to study, do homework, or travel safely! So far the DVC website says the following, “DVC Campus locations (in Pleasant Hill and San Ramon) are currently not impacted by PG&E power shutoffs. All services will remain open and classes will be held as scheduled. If conditions change such as a power outage, a power shutoff, or significant air quality changes, we will post that information here, and also send an email and text alert to all students and staff.” It is ignorant to think that simply because the college campus is uneffected by power outages that students as a whole will be uneffected. As we know a majority of DVC students are students who commute from other cities. Administrators please listen to your students. Cancel classes until students feel safe leaving their homes. As the Diablo Valley College Student Association President I approve and sponsor this message. Follow your Student Governments instagram for updates @ASDVCofficial
