Steve Austen to remain Principal at Yarrawarrah public school

The issue

Dear Director,

I write you this letter as a concerned parent from Yarrawarrah public school. I have been a parent at the school now for a little over 5 years, and have 2 children attending the school. In the short five years as a parent at the school I have been witness to many circumstances our little school has had to endure as a community. You may be aware YPS were hugely impacted by the death of a well respected, long serving teacher. YPS have also been greatly impacted by the changing leadership since Mr Jason Ezzy accepted his 3 year secondment at Woolooware. In the past three years, YPS has had 3 temporary principals. This has been very disruptive to our small community. Whilst the 2 temporary Principles did a great job leading our school during that period they found success in gaining permanent roles elsewhere which again disrupted our school community.
In January this year, after Jason was finally made permanent at Woolooware the position of principal was finally advertised. Subsequently our 3rd temporary leader was assigned to direct our team at Yarrawarrah. Steve Austin has been a breath of fresh air in our somewhat deflated community, he has stopped at nothing to be known in our tight knit realm and has made a clear direction of leadership for our beautiful school. Our teachers seem to have a spring in their step again and our student body have the utmost respect for Mr Austen and the wonderful values he upholds. Mr Austen has demonstrated that he is accessible to those that need his guidance and advice including all staff, pupils and parents. I know I speak for all those whom have signed below that we wish to make our voice heard that we would like for Steve to continue his role as principal at Yarrawarrah and not disrupt our community any further with more unsettling changes.

There is a mutual agreement within the parent body that further leadership changes would be damaging to our community. It is our request that, for the benefit of our school community there is serious consideration to continue Steve’s role as principal at Yarrawarrah public school
