Southern African Fight For Rhino
27 abr 2016
We have reached an amazing figure in such a short time. Heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you, that has signed, shared and tweeted. However, we have a long long way to still go.
Rhino continue to be exported, and now the latest is 37 to Vietnam, who have already created a parallel market in 'wet horn'. as it fetches a higher price! ie, the “fresh wild product” versus the “stockpiled product”. Poachers are paid way more for “wet poached” horn than “dry”. A one off sale, which is what the South African government, is banking on, in exchange for their withdrawal of their proposals for the upliftment of the ban, will NOT volunteer the prices that they and private owners are hoping for! I doubt the gamble is going to pay off, and we, you, have to make sure of that!
We need to look at this 'out of the box'. Why would the poachers kill a rhino, if all they wanted was the horn? Private rhino owners, have already shown that a horn, sawn off, will grow back, making it a 'sustainable' product. Why would the poacher not feel the same? Why kill the goose that lays the golden egg? Because of money. Greed so embedded, in the syndicates blood, that NOTHING is sacred anymore.
Time now, to please up the ante, my fellow friends and rhino warriors. Lets not allow this to continue. Lets make a stand as decent, caring, loving humans, to save these precious, beautiful beings. Your signature is worth a rhino life. More signatures, the more lives that will be saved, because then CITES cannot ignore us any longer.
My respect for you all, in sharing and tweeting, is growing day by day. My grassroots activism is working, as I travel to destinations, to launch it on the ground, country wide. THIS IS OUR FIGHT NOW!
