We request in this petition DIBP SkillSelect Team to provide a detailed response regarding recent abnormal EOI invitations and to disclose the work you’ve done to fix and optimize EOI system.
We raised a petition( https://www.change.org/p/dibp-refine-eoi-system?recruiter=797857276&utm_source=share_for_starters&utm_medium=copyLink) in September this year to request to refine EOI system as EOI system has a major defect in which allow the applicant to submit an EOI without any limit, in which means it will be easy to fake any information that the applicant currently has and to claim an EOI with a high skills points. Thus, it caused there were 239 invitations has been issued to the applicant under a unit group of 2211 Accounts with the minimum EOI points of 85 up to 15 Sep 2017 in the invitation round at 20 Sep 2017.
In accordance with the statistics from DIPB regarding the 189 NZ Stream, there are 6,300 applications lodged in 2017-2018 to 31 October 2017. It is reasonably estimated that applications of 189 NZ Stream will amount to 43,990, 42% of total 189 visa ceilings. Thus, the places remaining for non-NZ applicants are unfairly limited.
In addition, comparing the invitations in 2017 with 2016, the point score for non pro rata occupations has increased 5 to10 points. To make matter worse, it appears no invitations have been issued to non pro rata occupation in the latest round.
Therefore, considering all these factors and circumstances, we expect DIBP SkillSelect Team could provide an official response regarding recent abnormal EOI invitations. We also expect disclosure of the plan to protect the interests of non NZ applicants as well as the plan to balance the interests of pro rata occupations and non pro rata occupations.
