DHS Secretary Rejects Jones Act Relief for Puerto Rico

The Trump administration announced on September 25, 2017 that it denied a waiver of federal shipping restrictions for Puerto Rico to help the island recover from the catastrophic Hurricane Maria. The Trump administration issued a similar waiver to Florida and Texas in the wake of Hurricane Irma. I reached out to the DHS about the tremendous urgency expressed by more than a quarter of a million supporters of the Jones Act Waiver petition. To read more about the DHS response and Congressional actions by Senator John McCain and NY Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez, follow the link to Title46.com, where I will continue tracking Puerto Rico's progress toward recovery, providing updates on government efforts to waive the Jones Act and information on how you can help.
